He is the ex-professor & Head of E.N.T. Dept. of N.R.S. Medical College, Calcutta . He has also served as an examiner in various graduate and post graduate examinations all over India .

Prof. De had his early education in Calcutta Medical College, Calcutta and higher Post graduate education in U.K. & Europe. He has served as Registrar, Senior Registrar and Locum Consultant in various institutions in U.K. He was a Commonwealth scholar at the 3 rd British Academic conference in Edinburgh in 1971. He was a Fellow of World Health Organization (W.H.O.) and had worked in several advanced “Micro-Ear Surgery” centres in France , Germany , Holland , Belgium and Sweden . He has participated and presented papers in various national and international conferences in India and abroad including World Congress in Otolaryngology at Miami Beach , U.S.A. in 1985 and Sydney , Australia in 1997.

He is an Academician of repute. He has authored two books on Otolaryngology – “Fundamentals of Ear, Nose & Throat and Head-Neck Surgery” and “Otolaryngology Examination Review Book”. He has also contributed in the book “New Dimension in Otolaryngology Head-Neck Surgery”, Vol.2, published from New York and Amsterdam . He has published numerous papers in various medical journals in India and abroad. He has been awarded “Guthrie-Cruden Fellowship” by Scottish Otolaryngological Society at the British Academic Conference in Glasgow in 1987 for his contributions in the field of Otolaryngology & Head-Neck Surgery.

He was the Editor and Editorial chairman of the Indian Journal of Otolaryngology, official publication of the Association of Otolaryngologists and Head-Neck Surgeons of India. He has been involved in various research works in the field of Otolaryngology & Head-Neck surgery.

He is held in high esteem in the medical field and Otolaryngology in particular.
